Kluger N, Saarinen K. Aspergillus fumigatus infection on a home-made tattoo. Br J Dermatol. 2014;170(6):1373-5.
Cutaneous fungal or parasitic infections inoculated during tattooing or during the healing phase are exceedingly rare(1) . Anecdotal cases of tinea(2-4) , sporotrichosis(5,6) , zygomycosis(7) or Acremonium fungi(8) have been reported on recent tattoos. Such infections occur if the strict rules of asepsis and hygiene during the procedure or the aftercare have not been respected. We report here the first case of primary cutaneous aspergillosis (PCA) on a tattoo in an immunocompetent patient who underwent home-tattooing. This article is protected by copyright.
